San Francisco has the best record in baseball this season but is that because of their schedule or are they just that good? 85 games into this young season the Giants sit at 53-32 and have a +103 run differential. (Which is amazing) They also lead the best division in baseball, the NL West, a division that has the defending champs in the Dodgers, the Padres, and two lest than stellar teams the Rockies and D-backs. Don’t be fooled by the lesser of the division however, because they have only had thee combined series against those two teams. In an era where players tend to have batting averages below .260 the team has a batting average of .276. They also boast an all-star in Brandon Crawford, a hall of fame catcher in Buster Posey, and an up and comer Mike Yastrzemski. (Grandson of hall of famer Carl Yastrzemski) The only problem is that they are not contenders this season in my eyes. The pace they are playing at is not sustainable. Buster Posey is bound to miss 20-30 games due to injury after the all-star break and Brandon Crawford is washed up. The Dodgers will end up winning the NL West and the Giants will probably lose in the NLDS, does not really matter who they play I just think they will lose. The Padres also pose a threat against San Francisco and could very well be the team to eliminate the Giants. However the West shakes out, the World Series champ will come from that division.
