I urge everyone reading this to first read Rob Manfred’s letter to the fans. At 12:01 AM on December 2nd MLB will enter a lockout due to the expiration of the collective bargaining agreement. (CBA) in Manfred’s letter he claims that the Players Association came to MLB with an outrageously aggressive offer, one they would not budge from one bit. I personally side with the players but many side with the league saying; “you make millions to play a game” or “just play you make enough”. Those people only assume that it’s all about money for the players, however the league has very simple asks; a salary cap, higher rookie wage scale, league minimum spending and shortening the length of max contracts. Many things that Manfred thinks will ruin the competitive nature of the game. Things will work themselves out but in 1994 these same issues got the season cancelled and the world series was not played. The PA shouldn’t budge and the league needs to compromise in some way, but for now tat way is unclear and we can only pray thy figure it out before the start of spring training.
