This weekend the Washington football team suffered a grueling injury losing starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick for 8 weeks with a hip injury. A hip injury similar to Tua’s when he was at Alabama. The team announced today that there is no plan to sign a free agent quarterback and that Taylor Heinicke will be the starter moving forward and Kyle Allen will serve as the backup. But let’s take a look at who they could target. Can Newton is a guy that knows Ron Rivera’s playbook and would fit Washington football’s mood at quarterback but the cost of the media attention might loom to large. Aaron Rodgers could become available, but it would have to be the right price. The team needs a quarterback of starting caliber to compete this year and that’s the bottom line. Sure their defense is spectacular, but they need to score points to compete with the top of the NFC.
