Carl Lawson wasn't necessarily a sexy signing this offseason but was important none the less. The Jets are the team who took a chance on the injury riddled defensive end, who was primed for a breakout season. Three season ago Lawson tore his ACL for the second time and was able to rehab, comeback and contribute for the Cincinnati Bengals, but the Bengals thought he was to much of a hassle, money wise, to keep him around any longer. They also chose to spend on Trey Hendrickson to fill Lawson’s spot, a choice they will regret no matter the health status of Lawson. This offseason the Jets signed Lawson to a 3-year $45 million deal, who luckily put a injury clause on the deal. That clause turns half of this season’s salary into a signing bonus and brings his cap hit down slightly. This achilles injury could derail his career but I think Lawson will overcome once again and recover.
