The Loss of Cam Akers

Cam Akers was going in to this season as the feature back for the Los Angeles Rams. On Tuesday this week he unfortunately tore his achilles during a training session. The Rams do not really have another work horse on the bench this season either, with Darnell Henderson being the only runningback that has an NFL carry on the roster. Earlier this offseason they let Malcom Brown, a reliable every-down 'back, go in free agency. Which could be the mistake of the offseason in hindsight. Sean McVay, the Rams head coach said in an interview this week that the team does not plan on signing a veteran back and will ride out the foreseeable future with the backs they have. These backs other than Henderson are Xavier Jones, Jake Funk, and Raymond Calais, who all three have no regular season experience. Personally I expect the Rams to pick up a veteran maybe someone of the likes of Leveon Bell, Adrian Peterson, or Frank Gore. All three of those guys would be great additions to a young team. Another guy they could go after would be Todd Gurley as long as there are no hard feelings between the two parties, I mean even the great Eric Dickerson thinks they should resign him

. All and all the injury sucks for a young guy who has not been paid like a top guy yet, but hopefully the Rams can pull something out of their sleeve.
