Bleacher Report released their top 10 potential landing spots for NBA free agents this summer, so I thought I should react to them. I will leave the link to their list at the bottom.
1. Mitchell Robinson to the Golden State Warriors, He is an unrestricted free agent when the season ends and the proposed way to get there is through a sign-and-trade which includes James Wiseman. New York needs a guy like Robinson on their roster if they want to win so getting Wiseman in return is huge and you wouldn't have to pay Robinson money yet since Wiseman is still on his rookie deal leaving them cap space for the summer and beyond, especially if they can lure Zion away from New Orleans. For Golden State, getting a premium shot blocker who is still athletic enough not to get played off the floor is more important than people think. Their current big man, Kevon Looney, will be a free agent and on top of that plays less than 20 mpg in clutch games. If the Warriors get Robinson the term 'the rich get richer' if more true than ever before.
2. Collin Sexton to the Dallas Mavericks, Surely this move would mean Jalen Brunson has moved on and got a contract elsewhere, so that's how we'll look at this. Doncic needs a second guy and that guy has to have defense. A couple years ago Jrue Holiday was tied to the Mavs but that deal never amounted to anything. Sexton would bring a defensive factor to the team that hasn't particularly been good on defense at all. he also pairs very well with Luka on offense because he doesn’t need to be “the guy” and take all the shots.
3. Anfernee Simons to the Orlando Magic, Simons really raised his stock this season playing on a bad Trail Blazers team without Dame Lillard. He took all the shots as their number one guy and looked great on a bad team. I emphasize that because those types of players aren’t that great when they go to better teams with an established team around. However, Orlando needs something so maybe this one works better than I’d think.
4. Miles Bridges to the Utah Jazz, Let me start by saying if the Hornets allow Bridges to get away for nothing, Micheal Jordan is a failure of an owner. He is the perfect running mate for Lamelo Ball and company, he even led the team in scoring. But if he gets traded to Utah and Charlotte receives either Gobert or Mitchell then Micheal Jordan it the greatest owner of all time.
5. Jalen Brunson to the Washington Wizards, As I stated earlier, Brunson will get a huge contract this off-season and Washington is ready to spend. If you pair him will Bradley Beal I thank it could become redundant but if Beal finally decides to leave, Brunson can be the guy in the nations capitol.
6. Kyrie Irving to the Los Angeles Clippers, Kyrie connotes super teams. First he paired up with Lebron then forced his way to Boston then forced his way to Brooklyn, but what’s next for the part time player? Oh how about joining teo of the top ten players in basketball when healthy. This team would be unstoppable when the three all-stars play and that is plus be the only problem, ‘when they play.’
7. Deandre Ayton to the Detroit Pistons, It’s clear Ayton will not get a contract of his worth down in Phoenix and it looks like he will compromise winning for money, in which I do not fault the player. However, Chris Paul won’t be playing forever and Devin Booker needs a running mate for when Paul retires so the suns should buck up and sign the guy. In Detroit he’d have all the leeway to ask for anything becoming the beat athlete in Detroit immediately.
8. James Harden to the Miami Heat, I don’t see this one happening. Harden wants to play with Embiid and he’s made that clear by expressing his desire to sign the extension, but he said this in Brooklyn as well so who knows. What I do know is Harden loves himself a strip club and there is an abundance of those in South Beach.
9. Bradley Beal to the Brooklyn Nets, This one is obviously conditional since Kyrie has said he wants to return to the team, and wouldn't happen unless one of their current big three gets moved. However, imagining Beal and KD getting dimed up from Ben Simmons is kind of magical. plus you get a full-time guy who, unlike Kyrie, does anything he can to help the team win.
10. Zach Lavine to the San Antonio Spurs, This is the most likely one and the only one catching real traction around the league. Social media has already photoshopped his best moments with Spurs gear, the only problem I have with this signing is what Chicago has done to build around Lavine. Sure DeRozan has taken much of the stardom in Chi-town since he signed last offseason but Lavine started the whole transition. Lavine is the most coveted 'true' free agent and would pair nicely with rising star Dejounte Murray, who was third in the league in triple-doubles.
