The St Louis Cardinals are calling up their #2 and #3 prospects, and just in time for a struggling Tyler O'Neill to go on the 10-day injured list and Jack Flaherty to move to the 60-day injured list. Their #2 prospect is Nolan Gorman whose primary position is third base, but ever since Nolan Arenado was traded from Colorado over to the Redbirds Gorman was moved to second base. That brings up another question, where will the gold glove second basemen Tommy Edman play? The answer being shortstop which will move recently called up shortstop Brendan Donovan to the outfield. All of these moves are coming a little faster than expected as it is Pujols and Molina's last season and they were expected to contend this season and while they still can and most likely will, it will rely on how fast these young guys can get acclimated to the Majors. The #3 prospect is a left handed pitcher by the name of Matthew Liberatore who did throw a perfect inning in the rising stars game during last seasons all-star festivities. That move will hopefully send Jordan Hicks back to the bullpen after struggling as a starter. The core is there for St Louis but they have been unable to pull it all together at the same time, so hopefully these rookies can play out of their minds and help Molina and Pujols compete in their final seasons.
