Kyle Trask was widely viewed as a Heisman candidate for much of the 2020 college football season and even became a finalist for the award. Alabama's Devonta Smith ended up winning the award with Trask finishing 4th behind Lawrence from Clemson and Jones from Alabama. In 2020 Trask threw for 4,283 yards completing 69% of his passes which is nothing to scoff at. He also added 43 touchdowns while only throwing 8 interceptions. The "experts" I sometimes refer to in these blogs discredit his accomplishments because of the talent around him like Kyle Pitts, the top tight end prospect in this years draft. Trask by no means is a pedestrian player but he also isn't quite pro-ready. His decision making could use tuning and his pocket awareness needs some work, but in the right system he could be a starter in this league. Some teams he could go to are Washington, New England, Tampa Bay, and New Orleans, with all of them having aging quarterbacks and a chance to sit and learn for a season or two behind said veteran quarterbacks. I expect a team to reach for him based off the potential I alluded to, but it might not be the best idea. If teams are patient he could be available as late as early round 3, but watch out for Tampa Bay at 32 and New Orleans as a trade up candidate in the second round.
