Colorado's GM Jeff Bridich has finally stepped down from his position in the Rockies organization. He has been with the Rockies since 2014 and has made many mistakes along the way. The biggest might be signing Nolan Arenado to a lucrative 8 year 280 million dollar deal then trading him less than ten months later to St Louis. Oh and paying 50 million dollars of his salary for the first two seasons. Thanks again by the way! Other transactions he whiffed on were: trading Tulowitzki, aquiring Jose Reyes in said trade, letting LeMahieu walk and sign with the Yankees, and maybe the worst thing was pretending the Rockies had pitching and never fixing the problem. He's gone but that doesn't ensure all the bad moves are in the past. Trevor Story is on the last year of his contract, that means the Rockies are in a predicament. If he doesn't re-sign and leaves in free agency they lost him for nothing and if he re-signs the team won't be able to afford the contract and an Arenado type deal would be done again. could that work out? Yes, the Arenado deal might even work out but only time will tell. We can't forget about Charlie Blackmon though, he has a player deal in 2022 and 2023 so he has the opportunity to leave at the end of the season just like Story. These two players will show up all season in trade rumors and I won't be shocked if they get moved this season. I don't know who would spend on these players mid-season this early into the season but someone will.
