Last year the Philadelphia Eagles seemed to be locked into a good situation at quarterback. Carson Wentz had just come off a year in which he underperformed but showed promise for the next season. The Eagles then decided to draft a replacement for Wentz in the second round of the 2020 draft, Jalen Hurts. Hurts was a Heisman trophy winner at Oklahoma but didn’t fit the typical quarterback mold which made him slip in the draft. The new talent seemed to show out during the limited offseason activities, which excited Philly fans. Something that frustrated them was Carson Wentz’s play during the regular season. He was inaccurate and looked scared at times to make the right play. Midseason the Eagles decided to bench Wentz and start Hurts, giving him four starts to his name. in those four games he went 1-3 while recording 9 total touchdowns. In the last game of the season Hurts was benched at halftime for Nate Sudfeld, a move that ultimately lost them the game and got their head coach fired for the decision. This season the quarterback room seemed figured out with Wentz being traded to Indianapolis and Hurts looking like the day 1 starter, however Gardner Minshew II was just added to the Eagles roster via a trade from Jacksonville. Minshew had one of the highest yards per game averages and a high quarterback rating he also fits the offense much better than Hurts. The QB room just got bigger right before the season and I wouldn’t be surprised if Minshew were to take over during a rough patch of the season.
