Game Review

We finally had a football game that counted last night, and it was fantastic. The Buccaneers and Cowboys faced off in Tampa Bay in a nail biter of a game. The game started off slow with both teams punting in their first drives but then Tom Brady found Chris Godwin for a 5-yard touchdown pass to cap off a 94-yard drive. The Cowboys then had a 75-yard drive of their own end in a 22 yard passing touchdown from Dak Prescott to Ceedee Lamb to tie the game. After a punt by both teams the Buccaneers scored another touchdown this time a catch by Rob Gronkowski to take a 7-point lead over Dallas. It looked like déjà vu when Dallas drove down the field until the drive stalled and The Cowboys sent Greg Zurlein on to kick a field goal but misses. Then as if the world felt bad for the Cowboys Ronald Jones fumbles on the first play of the drive and gives the ball right back to Dallas who promptly scores a touchdown to Amari Cooper. They fail to tie the game however when Zurlein misses the extra point kick. The Buccaneers take a 21-13 lead into halftime after they score a long touchdown to Antonio Brown and the Cowboys miss yet another field goal. After halftime the Cowboys finally kick their offense into gear and take a 29-28 lead with 1:46 on the clock, and if you watched a Tom Brady game before you know what’s about to happen. Anyways the Buccaneers win on a last second field goal by Ryan Succup, and the Buccaneers make history. The team overcame a -3 turnover differential and a huge penalty yard discrepancy. There was some controversy on the final drive when Chris Godwin allegedly pushed off a defender to get open late, but a flag was not thrown, rightfully so. Dak had a great first game back from injury throwing for over 400 yards and 3 touchdowns while Brady on the other side threw for 379 and 4 touchdowns. If this game is a foretelling of the season to come, I’m excited.
