They MLBPA and the MLB have agreed on terms to a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), so I thought I would go over some of the changes coming in the next two years. First off, the NL will adopt the Designated Hitter (DH) meaning we have seen the last of pitchers in the batters box. The playoffs have been expanded to 12 teams, 6 per league, up from 5 per league and allowing more teams to compete for the World Series trophy. The league's draft will now operate with a lottery system to discourage tanking, although I do not believe teams are built through the draft anymore. Three rule changes that will not be implemented until the 2023 season are bigger bases for safety reasons, pitch clocks to make games quicker, and the elimination of the defensive shift in which will make the games more exciting and enjoyable. According to the commissioner of course, so take that with a grain of salt. All in all I'm just so happy that we will have baseball this summer and 162 games will be played, the only problem with the new CBA in my opinion is the universal DH. I know the younger fanbase will love it since it lets "real hitters" hit instead of pitchers, but I enjoyed the strategy behind that. Like how to play around it and how managers would use the Pinch Hitter, but as everything does, it will become normal and I'll get over it. So let's play ball!
