As the MLB season starts tomorrow I thought I should give me season predictions. I have already said that the St Louis Cardinals will win the World Series this year but these predictions will be strictly regular season standings.
NL East:
The Braves will finish atop the east once again and 2020 NL MVP Freddie Freeman will have another amazing year.
The Mets made a splash this offseason trading for Francisco Lindor but it just won't be enough to win the east this year, but they could make a run at the pennant.
The Nationals had a bad year last year, struggling with Covid protocols and overall health, not downplaying championship hangover at all. The Nats will get back to form this season.
The Marlins surprised everyone and made the playoffs last season, unfortunately it was most likely a spoof of a year as they fall to 4th in the east.
Personally I don't like the Phillies so they are getting a little spite but with Bryce Harper as your best player I don't see them being any good.
NL Central:
The Cardinals have the most talent in the central and will therefore win the division.
The Brewers improved this offseason and will ultimately make the playoffs but just won't be the top seed.
The Cubs are decent, but I expect them to be sellers at the trade deadline after a rough start to the season.
The Reds have lost pitching talent and seem to lack in hitting and that's why they fall back i the standings.
The Pirates are bottom feeders this season and will most likely have the second worse record in the NL, making them non-contenders.
NL West:
The Dodgers are the reigning champs so they must be the top seed in the west.
The Padres have a real shot at winning the west with a newly bolstered pitching core but because of the whose in the division they come second.
The Diamondbacks are simply just middling out west and their record will show that.
The Giants have a young core and they could out play their contracts but since it isn't an even year they will miss the playoffs. (Even with Posey returning)
The Rockies sold out on this season the moment they traded Arenado, they will have the worst record in the NL. (expect them to trade Story if a deal isn't done)
AL East:
The Yankees might be he best team in the AL, so expect them to win their division.
The Blue Jays are young and feisty this year, with Bochette and Guerrero Jr making all-star leaps expect them to compete in the east.
Although the Orioles seem to be bad every season this is the year they make that jump to the postseason.
The Rays fall from grace will be ugly but not as ugly as the next team.
The Red Sox haven't stopped falling since they won a few years back. (maybe another curse?)
AL Central:
The White Sox have proven they are a team to beat but this year they are the team to beat in the central.
The Twins are good enough to make the playoffs most years and that's why they are here, but even if they make it they couldn't win even if they tried.
The Tigers are going to win more game this year than you'd expect but not enough to contend.
The Indians sold on Lindor and will probably sell on the season as well.
The Royals just signed Perez to the richest contract in franchise history just to keep him hostage through the rebuild.
AL West:
The Mariners will win this division mark my words. This is the best they have been in 20 years.
The A's are solid, good rotation, good lineup, but lack in the swagger category.
The Astros can't win legitimately so they'll middle this year.
The Angels are a team I wish could pull it together but is seems they will just waste another year of Trout.
The Rangers haven't been good since 2011 and won't be good for a long time.
