Are The Panthers For Real?

Since the Panthers are playing tonight I thought I should pose the question about how good they actually are. Sitting at 2-0 and leading against the Texans while writing this they have had it pretty easy so far this season. In week 1 they played the Jets, who are in a rebuild state. The Panthers only won that game 19-14 after allowing the Jets to get back into the game late. In week 2 they play New Orleans who had 8 coaches have to sit out the game and the practices leading up the game. Coaching matters a lot and it showed on Sunday when Jameis Winston fell back to earth after his 5 touchdown performance in week 1 against Green Bay. And this week the Panthers head to Houston to play the Texans who themselves have an issue at quarterback, with Tyrod Taylor going down with an injury suffered in week 2 meaning they have to start rookie third round pick Davis Mills. As for the team, Sam Darnold is having a career year at quarterback and DJ Moore is poised to have a breakout season. The defense is another story as they are playing historic defense through the first two weeks of the season, but they are bound to regress. So, having said all that the panthers are not some new team that can run with anybody, yet they are not just a team people can schedule and write off as a win. Which is an upgrade from the last few seasons.
